Windsor International Writers Conference

Your Invite to the 2018 Windsor International Writers Conference!

Windsor International Writers is hosting their bi-annual writers’ conference July 6-8th, 2018 at the Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites Ambassador Bridge, 1855 Huron Church Rd and you’re invited!

Friday, writers will get a chance to have their work reviewed by agents and publishers in a series of intensive round table discussions. Saturday will be filled with keynote speakers, guests, and workshops and Sunday will focus primarily on self-publishing and marketing; what it takes to succeed in today’s publishing industry.

Writers at any stage of their career and from anywhere in the world are encouraged to attend. Your registration includes all meals, workshops, pitch sessions, intensive round table discussions, panels, guest speakers, contests, and networking opportunities. We’ve really packed as much value as we can into one weekend!

Keynote speakers will include Charlie Angus of the NDP, The Book Doctors, Deborah Dundas of the Toronto Star, author Michele “Wojo” Wojciechowski, Brian Henry of The Quick Brown Fox writers’ blog, and authors Andrew Pyper and Nick Cutter. In addition to such insightful voices, there will also be several publishing houses and writers agencies in attendance, including ChiZine Press, Mirror World Publishing, Walkerville Publishing, and The Rights Factory Agency, among others.

Writers will get the opportunity to network, receive feedback on their work, improve their writing skills, learn more about the publishing and self-publishing industry as well as get the chance to enter writing contests and pitch their work before industry professionals. If you’ve ever dreamed of being a successful writer, this conference is your chance to hone your craft and make connections in the industry.

We want you to succeed. We are every writer’s champion. We have something for attendees just learning how to start writing a book or finishing that book. Whether you’re going for the traditional route of the big name publishers, placing with an independent house, going hybrid, self-publishing, or choosing e-book-only distribution we will try to have as much information as we can muster to help you on your way. Don’t miss this opportunity!

Windsor International Writers Welcomes You!

Dear writers of all stages, authors, editors, agents, publishers, and interested parties, welcome to our new website! Please don’t be shy, we encourage you to have a look around and to contact us if you have any questions that need answers. For those of you who are familiar with who we are and what we do, welcome back, and for those of you who are new, thanks so much for coming to learn what we are all about.

Windsor International Writers is a non-profit organization dedicated to the literary arts, specifically writing, although we do incorporate several of the arts in our programming — music, painting, and acting to name a few. We are located in Windsor, Ontario, across the river from Detroit Michigan and although we love our city, we consider ourselves an international organization because we cater to writers from all over the world. Our conference has welcomed guests from France, Israel, Spain, India, Mexico and several people from the United States.

What exactly do we do? Well, if you’ve attended one in the past, or if you’re local to us, you may already be familiar with some of the events and workshops we offer. We’ve been in operation since 2014, offering writing workshops, literary events, and networking opportunities for writers at all stages of their careers. We also offer children’s’ writing programs in the form of our Young Authors’ Summer Camps and the I Want to be a Writer sessions during school year. And in addition to all of these wonderful events, we host the Windsor International Writers Conference every two years, the next one coming up this summer, July 6-8th, right here in Windsor, Ontario.

If you’re interested in attending the upcoming conference, please click here to register. It really is the best way to further your writing career by making the connections you need to move forward, whether you are a beginner or already a pro. We are considered one of the best boutique conferences in North America and unique because we tackle the tough topics and pay attention to morals and ethics in writing and cater to diverse voices.

Once you’ve registered, or even if you won’t be able to attend, keep in mind that there are a number of ways that you can get involved. We have an impressive list of agents, editors, and publishers already attending our conference, but if you are a professional in the literary field and would like to lend your expertise, please get in touch with us. That being said, we are also always looking for sponsors to help us fulfill our mandate. If you would like to sponsor some aspect of the conference, please reach out and let us know. And lastly, you can always opt to be a member of Windsor International Writers and gain access to our network of writers and literary professionals while being kept informed of all of our writing-related workshops and events.
